Due to the tornado that impacted our area yesterday, Balagio Homewood will be closed until power is restored, We hope this is only a few days. We will keep you updated here and on facebook.

Due to the ongoing power outage, we are unsure when Balagio Homewood will reopen—it could be as soon as tomorrow or may take a few days—so please check our Homewood Facebook page and the homepage

Our thoughts are with everyone in our community who experienced damage, loss, power outages, or disruption from the storm. We are incredibly grateful for the first responders, utility crews, neighbors, and community members who are working together to help those affected.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Please stay safe and look out for one another. We will share updates regarding our reopening as soon as possible.

About Balagio History

Michael A. Galderio Sr. Started his work in the restaurant business as a bartender at Alf’s Pub in Dolton.

Became a partner at the Tender Trap in Chicago Heights and then Ciao Ristorante in Matteson.

In 1996 Mike opened Balagio Restaurant on Ridge Road and Martin Street in Homewood until moving the business to its current location at 175th Street and Dixie Highway. In 2017 he expanded the restaurant into Mokena location on 191st Street and Everett Lane.

Dixie Highway Viaduct Closure - Village of Homewood

Dixie Highway Viaduct Drainage Project Update
Homewood officials announced that work on the long-awaited Dixie Highway viaduct drainage project is set to begin Mid July, with the full 90-day closure scheduled to start Mid July.
Construction is expected to continue through October.

This project will address the chronic flooding issue at the viaduct, including rebuilding the drainage system where a collapsed section has caused problems for decades.
IDOT will coordinate detour routes and make sure signs are posted in advance. Additional updates will be shared through Village communication channels, social media, the Home Sweet Homewood app, and Rave alerts.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and watch for posted detour signs during construction.
